i am already thinking on which profession i will use for my bear in WOTLK, as MT
i tried to gather together the informations what we have, please post here if i miss something

tanking professions (bonus what you cant get, only if you take the profession... i didnt counted BOP armor pieces, because most of the times you can get better raiddrops):

Mining
- 500 HP

Herbalism
- 2000 HP selfheal with 3 min CD

Leatherworking
- Fur Lining - Stamina - its a bracer enchant, 90 stamina. The normal enchant give 16 only, so its +74 stamina.
- there is some other BOP (atm at least) bracer enchant: +60 fire/frost/arcane/shadow/nature resist

Jewelcrafting
- Solid Dragon's Eye, its give 41sta: the blue one give 24, the epic one give 30. You can use 3 of them, so at the begin (when you use blue gems) is +51 sta, with epic gems is +33sta

Engineering
there is some "seems-good" item, but we cant compare them yet

Inscription
There is a BOP shoulder enchant:
Master's Inscription of the Pinnacle: Permanently adds 52 dodge rating and 15 defense rating to shoulder armor. (the greater version is 20/15, so is +32 dodge rating bonus)

Enchanting
The enchanter BOP stuffs are the ring enchant:
Enchant Ring - Stamina - its give +24sta/ring, so enchanting give +48sta if you choose it

Blacksmith
- the blacksmith can do a socket to his own bracer, gloves and one-handed weapon so its +48 sta with blue gems, and +60 sta with epic gems for bears and DK, and +72 / +90 for paladins and warriors

Alchemy
Mixology: bonus to the flasks/elixirs, atm give plus 350HP for the Flask of Stoneblood

Tailoring
Its can be interesting only for paladins and DK's:
- [Darkglow Embroidery] into your cloak, giving you a chance to restore 300 mana when you cast a spell

- Lightweave Embroidery into your cloak, giving you a chance to cause an additional 800 to 1000 Holy damage when you damage an enemy with a spell.

- Master's Spellthread Permanently embroiders your pants with master's spellthread, increasing spell power by 50 and Stamina by 30.

Skinning
+25 Critical Strike (yes, threat only)

Nice list. We could actually make this a sticky, assuming we keep it up to date when new info comes up.

Mining
- +35 stamina
Where does this come from? Maybe I should know, having played this game for 3˝ years, but I've never had mining... Smiley

I think also the resistance fur linings are very nice addition to us and worth a mention.

Well, I've already got mining and engineering and don't plan to change, so that's some nice stamina buffs. Heck, I already had a [Gnomish Poultryizer] for a stamina trinket till I replaced it with the [Darkmoon Card: Madness]... which will be going out if I can ever manage to see a [Commendation of Kael'thas] drop...

Engineering doesn't matter if it's not BoE - it requires Engineering.  Which is the same as being BoP for other professions.

As if we didn't need more miners.  Bah.

yup you are true Crissa. i dont remember to the text "requiring engineering 390", i think they added later to the item... (i know that it was strange for me, i thought: mmm its a new style?)

imo engineering no matter, because they do *items* and you can always found better item somewhere
now came out an interesting JC-only trinket: Ruby Hare, but items dont have weight until you dont know the entire loot table of the game... and in most of the cases you found some better with time

but,
we got a new BOP-inscription, a shoulder enchant

Inscription of Kings (20defense rating and 15 dodge rating) - the Scryer exalted version give 15/10 so at all  is +5/+5 defense and dodge rating (or just +10 defense rating if you are Aldor)

Those enchants/inscriptions with Def on them seem a bit of a waste when we look like getting all the crit reduction we need from talents.

Druid Trainer: No RareBeast. I'm trying to tell you that when you have read the Feral Druid Numbers thread, you won't have to.

Not entirely, although largely so. Even when crit-negation capped, we still gain some from Dodge and Miss components. So we have to evaluate the whole against available options. There usually ain't many in enchants.

Also, I probably will not take full points to SotF until I really start to phase out my tanking gear with WotLK equivalents. Yes, extra stats would be nice, but I will be starved for talent points anyway. Not that that will in any way affect my choice of professions...

Do they even think these things out ahead of time?

I swear, paid game designers make me want to punch them with their stupidity.  Of course, that's probably why the Wizards' Magic online dev that was hitting on me started hiding from me after I laughed at seeing their booth at GDC.

Grr.  I just want better games, is that too much to ask?

Seeing the only true "tanking" rings we have at the moment have defense on them, you are definitely correct that we can save some points in SotF.  I hadn't considered that yet.

Damn, that adds another layer of difficulty in selecting our gear once the new talents go live!

Part of the reason many of us read forums like EJ and Emm's is that they are generally free of the WoW forum 'romper room' commentary... please keep it that way.  If WoW is such a bad game that you want to punch the humans that wrote it, you clearly need to get off the computer and take a little timeout.
